Mars Rover Enters Design Phase
Jan. 17, 2007
by Andrew Boggeri
The ASME's newest project, the Rover Challenge Team, has finally gotten off the ground. Interest was high at the first information meeting, and we hope to keep our momentum as we begin designing our vehicle. Our fist design meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 6PM in EIV 38-138. We also have a secondary design meeting on Friday at the same time in the same room. We hope to decide on the chassis and mobility systems, as well as decide on what advanced systems to incorporate. We only have three months to get our systems to work together, so it'll be a challenge. We're currently in the market for EE's and CS majors, hopefully we'll be able to convince some to work in our group. That ends this news broadcast, good night, and good luck.

Happy Winter 2007!!!
Jan. 4, 2007
by Marianne So
Winter Quarter is finally here! (And now I finally understand how to join in updating our website.) So look for up to date posts from our ASME officers!

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers has a lot planned for Winter 2007: [Check out the events section for details]

1. Combots February 9-10 at The Crucible in Oakland. Our first Battlebots competition of the year. We're pretty sure DracUCLA will be greatly improved this time around and can't wait to see how UBRuined will do if we have it ready in time.

2. ASME General Meeting: stop by to mingle and get a run-down of events.

3. Check us out at the South Campus Activities Fair

We've got a new Battlebot in the making with head builder Chris Coffman and lead designer Tom Wiltse. We know it'll weigh 30 pounds and the rest is being thought out right now! So join in with your ideas for the name, weapon, etc.!
Students Win Tug of War Round 5!

In a sweeping show of brute strength and youthful vitality the students of UCLA engineering showed the faculty, staff, and alumni the other side of the line! With a brand new rope ASME President, David Meisenholder, courageously led the student team to a decisive victory.

The majority of the website is finally up. I still need to add the members and the media page (once I find time), but everything looks to be working. If anybody finds any odd behavior while using the site, let Leon know.
